Eagle Woman Poems navigates the tensions and contradictions that arise for a young, queer, mixed-race Chicana, as she struggles to achieve independence from oppressive legacies of the past and interdependence in every sense - socially, economically, environmentally, politically, and personally. Executed in a surreal domestic landscape, the anthropomorphic character of Eagle Woman straddles the space between reality and myth, attempting rote domestic tasks while communing with ancient goddesses.
